Judge Mallard defined what we mean when we say "one of the good guys." Coming up the hard way as he did, he could have become a hard man, but he didn´t. He was a compassionate judge, wise with an abundance of common sense. I am one of many whose life is better for having known His Honor.
RIP Judge.

Sissy, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. What an amazing life he led! I recall him as your dad during our days riding the bus and basketball games at St. Joseph's and then cheering at BEHS, but I also appeared before him many times as a young lawyer in Family Court. I recall him sending a client of mine out into the hallway to put on a jacket before he appeared in court. He was stern and formal in the courtroom, yet always had a laugh or joke to tell afterwards, and was so kind to me! God bless your family and I pray your memories of him are sweet. Judge Mallard was an American hero. A person who overcame difficult circumstances but maintained - and put to public use - his empathy and compassion for the less fortunate. It was an honor to have appeared before him as a lawyer. Condolences to his family and friends.

I have so many awesome memories of Judge Mallard from my early days as an attorney and from our times together at Palmetto Touchdown Club. He was always willing to share a laugh and taught me a lot as an attorney and as a man. Precious memories and deep sympathies to his children.

The Heinsohns new Bobby and Ruthie through several organizations, but Bobby made a huge impact in a young lady's life when she officially became our foster child/sister in the 1970s. She continues to do well and has had a career and her own family and much of this is in large part due to Bobby Mallard granting my parents the ability to nurture her. He and Ruthie were both wonderful! My deepest sympathies! Kathy Heinsohn

Heartfelt condolences to the Mallard family. You have suffered great losses these past several years and I pray God will bring you peace and comfort in the days ahead. Bobby and Ruthie were a joy to greet at the Lowcountry Senior Center as they came for Bobby's workouts at the gym. He was a member of our chorus as well and always a joy to speak with. I also knew him from Charleston County Govt. and heard nothing but good things about what a wonderful judge he was. They leave great memories that I hope will bring you joy as you remember.

Judge Mallard was my most favorite boss! I was his court reporter in the years 1973 and1974... my first real job at age 21. I would have stayed with him for many more years, but I got my "big break" to work for the Federal Government in July 1974 where I stayed for the next 30 years. He was the best Judge in so many ways... very compassionate and merciful. RIP Judge Mallard.

Judge Mallard and my father were lifelong friends. They grew up together as children in downtown Charleston, and on the playgrounds. They continued talking until my dad passed away recently. He admired Bobby greatly. Condolences to his family.
