Joseph Anthony Frontella

May 31, 1931 - January 3, 2025

Merced, California - Surrounded by his loving family, Joseph Anthony Frontella "Joe," passed peacefully in Merced on January 3, 2025, at the age of 90. In the early 1960's he served as a police officer for the Atwater Police Department. He then went on to work for Farmers Insurance Group as a Safety Engineer until his retirement in 1997. He was active in Atwater City Government for many years; first, as a City Council Member and lastly, as Mayor in the 1980's. He was preceded in death by his only child, Joseph Frontella, Jr.; his parents, Louis and Isabel Frontella; and his brother, Louis Frontella, Jr. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Laura Frontella; his grandchildren, Miles and Natalie Frontella; daughter-in-law, Teresa Frontella; and sisters, Isabel Rochester and Marie Jefferies. He lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed hunting, bowling, playing cards and golfing. He was known for doing things 'his' way, naturally, that was the 'only' way! A very independent person (maybe even stubborn) who will be missed by family and friends. May God rest his soul.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 11 a.m., at The Merced Elks Lodge #1240, 1910 "M" Street, Merced, CA.
