Gloria Dawn Richner

July 13, 1949 - May 18, 2024

Bellefonte, Pennsylvania - Gloria Dawn Richner was born on July 13th, 1949 and passed away peacefully at Centre Care in the early morning hours of May 18th, 2024.

Gloria was an avid traveler who was always up for an adventure. Her favorite trips include Route 66 twice with her twin sister, Helen Hillard, numerous trips to visit her daughter, Melinda Casey (Richner) in Massachusetts, New York and several other cross country road trips.

Gloria was a graduate from Bellefonte High School, Class of 1967. She retired from Penn State University where she worked for 15 years. Other notable jobs were Assistant Manager at Big Boy's restaurant and Assistant Manager at WT Grants/Bradford House restaurant in State College.

Gloria is survived by her daughter, Melinda Casey (Richner), her son-in-law Christopher Casey of Schenectady, NY her brothers Carl "Shorty" Richner and his wife Hazel of Milesburg, Darrel Richner and his wife Deb of Julian, Budd Richner and his wife Annette of Lancaster, her sisters Zelda Lutz and her husband Earl of Bellefonte/Zion and Helen Hillard of Duncannon. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews that many thought of her like a second mother.

Gloria is preceded in death by her mother Winifred (Lucas) Richner, her sisters Gladys Kellerman, Vivian McKinley and her brothers Harry Richner and Gerald "Jerry" Richner.

Gloria was the type of person who would always help others before she helped herself. In her last noble act of selflessness, she decided to donate her body to science. Her body, organs and tissue will be used for medical research and educational purposes for future scientific advancements. Once her research is complete, her cremated remains will be returned to her daughter Melinda Casey. Per Gloria's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service at this time.

I met Gloria back in 2000 I think it was. We worked together at Penn State University. We has so many great times and laugh oh my goodness!! One memory I think about a lot and just laugh is : We worked 3rd shift together and one night I was walking down the hall to find her to go have a smoke lol and I was eating potato chips lol and she jump out of the classroom and goes BOO !! Scared the crap out of me and the chips went flying lol all we could do is laugh lol we both laughed till we cried !! We had so many laughs at work or whenever we were together. I am so sorry for the families loss of Gloria. I do know that Gloria went home with Jesus. We used to talk bout believing in God and Jesus a lot also. Miss yea Jelly Bean, love yea too. Until we meet again Miss Gloria !!

So sorry for the family of Gloria. I am a `67 graduate of BHS also. I would see her at craft shows with Helen. Celebrate her life she was a good person.

Helen and family. So sorry to hear of Gloria's passing. She was quite the adventurer. Glad you spent time traveling with her. Remembering is the easy part, realizing you can't even say hello anymore is hard.
