Rooby McCraw Obituary

Rooby Allen McCraw, 95 of Elkton, MD, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025.

He was born in Surrey County, NC to the late John and Lucy (Johnson) McCraw. He lived in Mt Airy, NC, and Patrick County, VA before moving to MD at the age of 12.

Mr. McCraw worked at Wiley Mfg. as a foreman until they closed in the 1980's. He then worked at Trojan Yacht and Williams Industries.

He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years: Elmira "Sis" McCraw and his son: Richard Allen McCraw. In addition, he was predeceased by his 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

Mr. McCraw is survived by his son: Robert McCraw and daughter: Carol Sue McCraw both of Elkton. Also surviving are his grandson: Christopher Gaspare (Brandie Biddy) of Elkton; granddaughter: Andrea McCraw-Darr (Roy), great granddaughters: Morgan Smith, Brianna Polston and great grandson: Bailey Sperry all of Stephens City, VA. He is also survived by his special nephew: Robert "Skip" Nickle, Jr. of Newark, DE; and sister-in-law: Betty Sharmose of Elkton, MD.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm at North East Methodist Cemetery, 101 Cemetery Road, North East, MD.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rooby may be made to his favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in care of the funeral home.
