CLIFTON E. FARLEY II, 73, of Hurricane, WV, affectionately known as "Clipper" and "Biggun" by his family, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, WV, after a long illness.
Born and raised in Poca, WV, Clifton was a proud graduate of Poca High School Class of 1969 and went on to graduate from the Hobart Welding School in Troy, OH in 1971. He was widely known for his remarkable memory and storytelling, mechanical acuity, and a deep well of practical knowledge that he readily shared with others. Clifton worked for many years as a dedicated member of the Pipe Fitters Union Local 625, where he earned the respect of his colleagues through his skill and integrity.
After retirement, Clifton taught himself the art of quilting, becoming an avid quilter and embroiderer, making hundreds of quilts for family, friends, and the community alike. He simply enjoyed sharing his passion with others.
Clifton is survived by his loving wife, Mary Farley; his son, Clifton E Farley III (Jessica); his daughter, Betsy Bowen (Jeff); his sister, Lynne Kibler; and his cherished granddaughters, Kayli and Bella. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In accordance with his wishes, Clifton will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 5, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church Nitro at 11am. 111 21St Street, Nitro, WV 25143.
