Virginia L Boyd, 72, of Lawrence, KS passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012, at the Baldwin Health Care & Rehab Center in Baldwin City, KS. A Memorial gathering will be held Monday, June 25th at the Chapel Oaks-Lawrence Funeral Chapel from 6 - 8 pm. Private inurnment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Virginia "Ginny" Boyd was born March 23, 1940 in Overbrook, KS; the daughter of Melvin & Pauline (Baker) McClelland. She was a graduate of Lawrence High School in 1958.

Ginny worked at Kansas Color Press for many years; and worked for the University of Kansas as a custodial supervisor for 18 years retiring in 2002. She was a member of the First Christian Church. Ginny loved traveling with her husband Dean and she was a fanatical KU Jayhawk Basketball Fan. Ginny loved garage sales and clipping coupons! She always let her grandchildren know that education was highly important and something no-one could ever take away. She was very accepting to everyone and welcomed them into her family with an open heart. She became everyone's Mom. Her son remembers doing everything together both in work and play. Virginia chose to be a mother - her daughter is most grateful to have been chosen. She was the glue that held everyone together. Virginia "Ginny" Boyd is survived by her husband, Daryl Dean Boyd; son, Alan Bignal and wife Linda of Lawrence, KS; daughter Traci Angeles and husband Kent of Lyndon, KS; son Gary Boyd and wife Kathy of Baldwin City, KS; two brothers, Larry McClelland of Leavenworth, KS and Jim McClelland of Ottawa, KS and five grandchildren, Sarah, Andrew, Gentry, Kyle and Jacob. Family suggests contributions to Grace Hospice or the Baldwin Health Care & Rehab Center in lieu of flowers.
