To the Dukakis Family: I want to offer my deepest condolences on the passing
of a such a fine actress. She will be greatly missed by her fans who loved her and respected her work in the television industry. I especially liked her
performance in Steel the Magnolias as

There is certainly light years more to her career than one can begin to comprehend at this moment. Olympia Dukakis will always be 'Rose Castorini' to me - another woman everyone wishes was in their life. Our heartfelt condolences to her beloved husband and to all of her family and friends. May God comfort you. Ti Amo, Olympia. Rest in sweet peace.

My memories of Olympia go back to our days at Boston University's Drama Dept. I remember how we shared an apartment with a third friend, Annie.
Olympia has always had the values I admire. She loved acting for itself. She valued plays and the theatre as the art form it is. She was not looking for fame, but only the immense satisfaction of practicing her art and craft.
As a human being she had enormous empathy for other people and their perceptions and struggles. I felt for a time as if she were my older sister.
When she married Lou Zorich and ran the Whole Theatre in Montclair, I was incredibly impressed by the productions they did.
My deepest sympathy goes out Apollo, and to her family, even though I have never had the pleasure of meeting her children. I am sure that they have many of their parents' qualities, valuing their work for its inherent substance.
Olympia was also a very practical person and that is important. She was well rooted in the practicalities of the theatre world.
Dear Apollo, I do remember you and hope you have done well. I am sure this loss is so very hard for you.
I do feel very sad knowing that Olympia is no longer with us. Losing her has destroyed a piece of my life.

Olympia was a wonderful actress. Her life experience is filled with accomplishments. Losing a loved one can bring great pain and sorrow. Our Heavenly Father knows our sadness and is there to comfort us. Roman 15:4,5 describes our Heavenly Father as a comforter. He knows how it feels to lose a loved one in death and therefore, knows how to wipe our tears away.
