Funeral services for Marilou Bateson, 68, Lawrence will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 3, 2018 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. She passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Marilou was born July 27, 1950 in Berrien, Michigan the daughter of Robert Walter and Mildred Pauline (Wood) Estes.

Marilou graduated from Lawrence High, and has lived in the community most of her life, and of course is a huge Jayhawk fan. She worked as a dental assistant for 40 plus years. Whenever she wasn't working, you could find her on the golf course. Golfing with her family and friends was her favorite past time. She was a member of the Jayhawk Club, and a trustee for Eagles lodge, where she was also a member of the Eagles golf club. She is a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, and a bright light in all of our lives.

She married John Bateson on April 21, 2017 in , Las Vegas, Nevada. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include her son, Jay "Aaron" Wagner, Oskaloosa; two sisters, Joyce Crisman, Shirley Weeks, both of Lawrence; two brothers, Robert D. Estes, Paul Estes, both of Tonganoxie; two grandsons, Blake and Tucker Wagner. She was preceded in death by her sister, Coleen Tabbert and brother, Wayne Estes.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the mortuary.
