John Jervis was one of my favorite people. He lived an interesting life of a maestro and a fine performer. But most of all, he was an incredible teacher. He showed the gift of music scores of students.

We were honored to watch and listen him play. We were made luxurious through his pedagogy.

I miss him already.

I knew John in the early 90's in St. Louis. I decided to look him up, only to find I'd just missed him. Vale friend.

I met John at one of Lawrence’s many coffee shops. I always enjoyed our visits there. On occasion, I’d give him a ride home. This provided opportunity to be able to see him play in a live venue. I learned so much about music from John. He was always patient in explaining Bacharini was different than Bach. I’m sad to see John’s passing. I haven’t seen him for a while since I am now in Grand Island, NE. I have a CD he shared with me. I will listen to it as a tribute to John.

John was a roommate for a winter not long ago. We enjoyed watching science fiction over dinner and sometimes he would tell me of the time Peter Tork of the Monkees was his roommate. A true one of a kind. He will be missed.

To a gentle soul, a well traveled gentleman, and a master on the guitar, I will miss seeing you on the bus and hearing your stories. Rest in peace my friend.
