Caroline Wandel Obituary

A Celebration of Life for Caroline Augusta Wandel/Mensch/Sibert, 71 of Lawrence will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Lawrence Bible Chapel, 5050 Monterey Way, Lawrence, 66049. Caroline went to be with the Lord on June 30, 2018 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Caroline was born August 9, 1946 in Nanticoke, PA, the daughter of Albert and Betty (Sibert) Mensch. She graduated from Naticoke High in 1964 and married Robert Wandel in Sweet Valley, PA in 1966.

Caroline was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed watching children grow and cared for many children just as lovingly as she did her own children. Her hobbies included: caring for her pets including squirrels and birds, cross stitch, crocheting, reading, fishing and putting puzzles together. Her hugs were healing. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Her survivors include, her loving husband of 51 years, Robert L. Wandel, and her two children, Robert D. Wandel and Jennifer Louise Walters. Other survivors include Patricia Wandel/daughter-in-law, Michael Paul Daughtry/grandson, Katy Louise Walters/granddaughter, and Guinevere Purity Birkitt/great-granddaughter, Josiah Ash Daughtry / great-grandson and two brothers, Chuck Senkus and Robert Senkus.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Lawrence Bible Church, 505 Monterey Way, Lawrence, KS 66049 or The Lawrence Human Society to care for animals that she loved so much, 1805 E. 19th Street, Lawrence, KS 66046 and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

Carol was an incredible neighborhood mom who took in and loved every kid. She raised two amazing children and I thank God every day for her son, my husband Bob and his baby sister, Jen. She shared my love for animals which always made me smile. I love her and dad for opening their hearts and arms to myself and my little boy Paul so many years ago and always thinking of him as their grandson. My husband is the finest example of what a good man is, and a lot of that is due to his mom and dad. I am so happy you are no longer in pain Mom Wandel. Fly away.

Seventy-One years ago, God sent one of his Angels to this earth in the shape of my Mom. For those of you that Knew her she touched your heart in your own special way. She only saw the good in you, over looked your mistakes and prayed that you would find The Lord Jesus Crist. How wonderful it was to grow up with that kind of love. If you are one of those people that received My mom's love I ask that You pay it forward. If you never met my mom and are struggling with life I ask you to look to the stars on a clear night because she loves you as well and is looking down on you and praying that you will overcome the difficulties within your life. God's Angel went home but she has not Left us. Like the popular poem Footsteps in the sand, Let Moms Love carry us all throughout the difficult times in our lives.
