Marvin, 89, was born in Barnes, Kansas and passed away January 12, 2019 in Lawrence. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ann Stohs, parents Julius and Adelia Stohs, brothers Gilbert and Roger Stohs, and sister Delores Stohs Curtis. Marvin attended Liberty Memorial High School, in Lawrence, until he was old enough to enlist in the U.S. Army. He was a World War II veteran and served in the Korean occupation forces from 1946 to 1948. After Honorable Discharge, Marvin returned to Lawrence, graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1949, and then continued his education at the University of Kansas studying Mining Engineering for two years. Marvin was employed by the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant, in De Soto, and then mining companies in Butte, Montana. He married Ruth Ann Kieffer in 1954 in Lawrence. They moved to Leadville, then Denver, Colorado, before they returned to Lawrence in 1960, where Marvin worked for FMC Chemicals as a Drafter. He was employed by FMC until he retired in 1989. He and Ruth then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where Marvin played golf and worked for FunJet Vacations. Marvin and Ruth returned to Lawrence in 1996 where both he and Ruth worked as Ushers at KU football and basketball games until 2018. Marvin and Ruth were married 63 years before her passing in 2018. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was a 32° Scottish Rite Mason. He is survived by his children Keith Stohs (Annette) and Kristie Rock (Brian). Marvin's memorial service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2019. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran.

Marvin was our long-term next door neighbor on Louisiana Street. I always admired and respected him, and will miss having him around.
