Alva Dewey Davidson

Graveside services for Alva Dewey Davidson, 95, Topeka, will be held at 12:30 p.m., January 23, 2013, at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery in Topeka. He died on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Clare Bridge of Topeka.

Alva was born on May 28, 1917 in Richland Parrish, LA, the son of John & Estha (Thompson) Davidson.

He served his country in the US Army during WWII and the Korean War. He was in the service for 28 year until he retired as a Command Sergeant Major. He also retired from the State of Kansas as a Parole Probation Officer.

He was a member of the American Legion in Topeka.

Alva was married to Dorothy Marie (Keeble) on June 10, 1939 in Junction City, KS. She preceded him in death August 30, 2004.

Survivors include, five grandchildren, Wayne, and wife Susan, Tina Stafford, Gary Davidson, Jr., Lori South, and husband, Eddie, Lisa Locke, and Significant Other, Edward Lohf; and six great grandchildren, Buddy, Tanner, Asa, Ian, David, and Paige. He was also preceded in death by daughter, Twila J. Davidson; and son, Gary Wayne Davidson, Sr.

The family will greet friends from 10 – 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

The family suggests memorials in his name to Midland Hospice – Topeka and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
