Funeral Services for Charles B. Harris, 82, will be held at 11:00 a.m., February 2, 2019 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary – Eudora Chapel. The family will greet family and friends an hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Burial will follow the service in Eudora Cemetery in Eudora, KS. He went home to be with the Lord on January 27, 2019 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Charles was born September 21, 1936 in Cairo, Illinois and was the son of Albert "Shorty" Harris and Clara Mae Harris, Eudora, KS.
Charles was raised in Eudora, KS and attended Eudora High School. He served in the United States Army 101st Airborne Division ("Screaming Eagles") in Fort Campbell, KY from 1955-1957. After serving in military, Charles settled in the Kansas City, MO area where he worked as a truck driver for several years. Charles became an ordained minister in the 1980's and established Walls of Salvation, Gates of Praise Church in Kansas City, MO. Upon retirement, Charles became a member of Harvest Church in Kansas City, MO.
Survivors include his children, Chuck Harris and daughter-in-law Cindy of Drexel, MO, Darrel J. Harris and daughter-in-law Debbie of Chattanooga, TN; Siblings, Albert Harris Jr. of Kansas City, MO, Bessie Fleming and brother-in-law Audrey of Kansas City, MO, Augusta Harris of Lawrence, KS, Barbara Sheffield of Lenexa, KS, Helen Barner of Grandview, MO, and Herman Jeffrey Harris of Lawrence, KS; Grandchildren, LaTice Hicks, Kansas City, MO, Hilton Leonard, Kansas City, MO, Cameron Harris and wife Leslie of Cheney, WA, Zachary Harris of Chattanooga, TN, and Destinee Mae Harris of Chattanooga, TN; Great grandchildren, Kimora Kersey, Kansas City, MO, Hilton Leonard III, Elizabeth Leonard and Tianna Leonard of Kansas City, MO. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Harris and Clara Mae Harris; his daughter, Tina Gonzalez; and his siblings, Carrie Spearman, Lucille Davis; and Marie Young.
