Memories and Condolences
for Bruce Lopez

Not sure what to say?

Because no words could ever really express my feelings about Bruce, I will write only these three: best guy ever. He was one of the absolute best friends I could have ever had during my years at KU. So glad we reconnected a couple years ago. My heart and prayers go out to Mary and his family. I know he is watching you all from Heaven. Until I see you again dear friend...rock chalk. With love and sympathy to his sweet family.

Lopez Family: Sorry for your loss. I knew Bruce when we both attended KU. We shared many great memories. He was fun, kind, compassionate and most of all a great friend to everyone he met. I ran into Bruce at a KU basketball game a few years ago and we picked up our conversation like 38 years had never passed. I know he will be missed but well remembered by many.

I knew Bruce for 30+ years. Ran into him a few months ago for the first time in several years.. Once we started talking we couldn't stop....like no time had passed. So many stories and memories we shared. Such a kind and fun loving guy he was. My condolences to the family.

Lopez Family,
Bruce was one of the nicest guys I ever had the pleasure to know. As a friend of his son Brian, he regularly kept up with what was going on in my life, and every time I saw him, though infrequent, was like we've seen each other every day. He was just a super nice guy. He'll truly be missed. Sending prayers to the family. RIP Bruce.

Dear Mary, Jessica and Brian. I spoke with Betsy the other day, who told me about Bruce's passing. To say I was shocked is an understatement! I am so very sorry for your loss! Actually, his passing is a loss for all of us who knew and loved him. I'll never forget our "driveway drinkers" gatherings on Alma Ct. What fun we had! Bruce was always the epitome of the perfect hose, since we always ended up on your driveway.

I've been trying to find your address but my computer is not behaving well. If I can possibly get up for the funeral, I will. If not, please know that you all are in my thoughts, praying for your peace. Love you all and, again, I am so very very sorry. RIP Bruce!

Dear Lopez Family,
I am so-so sorry for your loss that has left an immense void in your lives. Bruce was a treasure in our world of negativity. I work in one of the colleges Bruce would visit and I cannot believe I will never get to see his smiling, happy soul again. He will be greatly missed by me and everyone that had contact with him as he was such a light but gentle soul that I was blessed to have known.

Dear Lopez Family - I worked with Bruce many years ago at the AMOCO Station while he attended college at KU.He always called me"Hoobie"in a loud voice first thing while opening in mornings. The few times we ran into each other later in life he had the same smile that I will never forget. He is a wonderful friend, and I feel as though we shared a time of the last Gas Stations with full service, mechanics on duty ,and a car wash. The last of a time gone by.Although we haven't seen each other for a while-learning of his passing was a shock.I hope the best for all his family and loved ones.

Bruce was such a joy to be around, a hard worker, smart, & always so funny. I knew him well over just the last few years as we worked on some conferences together. It's still hard to believe he's gone. We are keeping him & his family in our prayers, even though we cannot attend this weekend. Peace be with all of you in a difficult time, he was loved by all who knew him. I will always cherish our time & work together.

Bruce was the perpetual good-natured, positive, generous, hard-working guy anyone would be proud to call Dad, Grandpa or friend. Many people will focus on his wonderful personal characteristics. I would like to share a little about the other side of Bruce which many may not be as aware of because in addition to all of those great characteristics, he was a humble man, too. He was one of my competitors and I still loved and respected hm and will always be in awe of what he accomplished in the business side of his life. Not only did he help build Credit World and give it premier status in this region, the most impact Bruce had was on all of the colleges and universities in the region, and, therefore, all of their students. He worked tirelessly for associations that educated staffs and supported higher ed legislative initiatives. He was just as motivated and industrious as a Board member as he was as an exhibitor. He pitched in wherever he could help. He coordinated and hosted an annual workshop for schools' fiscal staffs. He was a coach, a mentor, a guide, a tutor, an advisorbasically, a guru for all. He won awards that most of you probably never even knew about, but they were significant, competitive awards where Bruce was chosen from hundreds of potential candidates. He did all that and more, while always telling us about his lovely family, proudly showing us photos of his beloved wife, children and grandchildren and talking so fondly of his dad. My heart goes out to all his family and friends I cannot even imagine the sorrow you must be feeling at this loss, as my heart is breaking with it. I will continue to light candles and keep all of you in my family's prayers. God bless you all, and keep His loving arms around my friend, Bruce.

Dear Lopez Family-I have thought of you often over the last few days and have prayed for the family that lost one of the most kind and considerate person that I have had the pleasure of knowing. He was always the first to welcome you into a room and never an unkind word was spoken. He will be missed dearly.

Through the industry we worked in, I knew Bruce for at least 25 years. Although we saw each other maybe three times a year, I always looked forward to seeing and having lunch or dinner with him. He was a complete gentleman, and our discussions always centered around family and sports. Business was only discussed when absolutely necessary. I am deeply saddened by his passing and offer my condolences and prayers to his family and friends. I will never forget you buddy.

Bruce and I sold cable door to door in the eighties. Part of a team that literally built the cable television industry. Bruce was the best because of his wonderful personality. Bruce became a good friend of mine and with Dale whom I met selling cable and eventually married. Bruce was there the whole time. As a matter of fact, Bruce was Dale's groomsmen and I was so proud and happy Bruce was a part of our ceremony. Love you Bruce. Peace be with you. Look up a few folks in heaven for me. You will enjoy their sparkling personality and they will enjoy yours! God send love and comfort to those left behind.

I feel so blessed to have known Bruce for many years. That amazing smile and kind heart of his will always be remembered. My heart breaks for his family, especially Mary. Bruce was taken way too soon. He is an angel now, watching over everyone he loved so dearly. And I have no doubt, his beloved Chief was waiting at Rainbow Bridge, to help him cross over. RIP Bruce. You will always be remembered so fondly.

Such a great human being ,Bruce and Mary were our neighbors for many years and we did several challenging projects together and Bruce was always so excited to learn new skills and I have never known a more gracious soul ,he dug out our driveway after a snow storm and was always anxious to help and always wore a big smile !! I also remember Bruce walking with Chief ,there was a beautiful bond there!! Rest in peace because Chief likes to run !!!

Bruce was always a smiling face at our financial aid conferences. He treasured his family and spoke of his grandkids often. I will certainly miss his genuine personality.
Though I will not be at the services, I will say a rosary on Friday for the repose of his soul. May the perpetual light shine upon him and rest in peace, friend. You will be missed dearly!

My prayers and deepest condolences to Mary and all of Bruce's family. I'm so sorry that I will not be able to attend his service this weekend. Bruce was one of those rare people who always made you feel good. His smile was infectious and he never hand an ill word or thought about anyone. This world is far better for having had Bruce in it. Even though his time here was too short, his joy and happiness will carry on through his family whom he loved beyond measure and the thousands of friends and people who's lives he touched. I'm so thankful to have been counted among his friends and will always remember his infinite kindness and beautiful smile. Rest In Peace sweet friend!

I was honored to have been blessed to have worked with Bruce for 18+ years. His attitude, smile and faith in people were refreshing. He was a good man and a true friend. I will miss our morning routine.
When he spoke of his family, his eyes would light up. We would share pictures of our grandkids and laugh. He had a wonderful laugh. And he had a phone full of sweet and funny pictures of his grandkids. He was so proud of his whole family.
I pray for Mary, his children, grandchildren and the rest of his family to be at peace and to know what joy and happiness he shared. That he changed so many lives for the better. I know he changed mine. I already miss you, Bruce.
