Chuck was an inspiration to countless young men in the Lawrence community. He always had time to talk to a child and always showed them how to do what was right because it was right. He showed them what mattered in life; family and friends-not material things. He was a proud father-he loved his children and he always cherished his wife. Chuck, you will be missed. Lawrence is a better place for having you. Those who knew you are better for it!

Chuck, I will always be indebted for the considerable amount of time you spent patiently encouraging me during my baseball career at KU 1984-87. You were a dad away from home and a staunch ally of all the young men who played sports at KU. We are all better people for having come in contact with you during our college days. Thank you for your everyday display of dignity and grace. Rest in Peace my friend.

Chuck was always a friendly man. He and my father grew up together, and then I got to know him as the equipment manager for the baseball team at KU. He spent many, many years teaching kids life skills through athletics, and I had the pleasure of coaching Pat in baseball years later.
Derrick and Pat, he will be missed.
