Timothy Gibson Obituary

Timothy “Tim” Lee Gibson, 59, of Ruckersville, Virginia passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, July 23, 2020. Tim was born on December 16, 1960, in Charlottesville, VA. He is the son of the late Morton E. Gibson and Ethel M. (Roach) Gibson, and the seventh of eight children. Tim attended William Monroe High School and graduated in 1979. Tim was self-employed and had a knack for roofing and painting.

In addition to his parents he was proceeded in death by his sisters, Diane Knight and Norma Gibson; and his loving friend Stanley “Mac” Shifflett.

He is survived by his partner of 25 years, Ruth K. Ramsey; two daughters, Sara-Elizabeth P. Gibson and Anne-Marie M. Gibson; brothers, Glen (Gina) Gibson and Mike (Cecelia) Gibson; sisters, Kay (Kenneth) Lamm, June (Henry) Horner and Stella Gibson; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Tim was a friend to all, and he knew no stranger. His heart for others showed in his actions, as he had a generous spirit. His door was always open, and he would go out of his way to lend a hand to those in need. He will be remembered for his lighthearted personality and his ability to make everyone laugh. He always had a joke to share or a trick up his sleeve. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, and driving through the backroads of Greene County. He liked watching football, basketball, classic shows, and movies in his down time. Tim had a love for music and was well known for his dance moves. He always said his greatest accomplishment in life was being a father to his two daughters. His presence will be missed on this earth, but he will be remembered by those who love and know him.

In his memory, give without expecting anything in return.

“In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Acts 20:35, ESV.

A special thank you to the staff at Ryan Funeral Home. We are sincerely grateful to the many family members and friends who have given us support and comfort during this time of loss.

I knew Timmy when we were very young. He rode the same school bus and he was always laughing and joking. I saw him again at our 30th class reunion accompanied by his daughter. Sending happy memories to his family and friends. May he rest in peace.

Our sincere condolences to the family.
I was fortunate enough to meet Timmy at a young age. Our family moved into the town of Stanardsville when we were young. I remember the first time we met. Timmy was probably 7. He was a tanned freckled face youngster with a crewcut. It didn’t take long to figure out he was a little spark plug. My brother and I spent countless hours, days and years with Timmy. We grew up in the neighborhood together. We fished, we hunted, we hiked, we swam, we made a raft out of milk jugs to float on the pond. We played hockey on the pond when it froze over with sticks and a pepsi can. We went sleigh riding by the light of the moon. We played countless football games, baseball games, hide and seek. We threw horseshoes at Timmy’s house, (a lot) . Timmy really enjoyed throwing horseshoes.

Those of you that know Timmy know he’s competitive. We foot raced, leg wrestled, arm wrestled, thumb wrestled, etc. We were playing kickball when we were young and he broke his leg. When he had his broken leg he had a cast on it up to his thigh and was supposed not be putting weight on it. He ended up going through two casts in a period of six months. Needless to say he didn’t take heed to the doctors orders. I swear, I think he could outrun me when he was on crutches. Quite a sight to see when he would be going to Booster Blakey’s store (old IGA and then the hardware store) on the sidewalk on those crutches going as fast as he could and wanting to race us.
We often gathered soft drink bottles to get some money. We used a little red wagon that Timmy had and we would use that to haul them to Booster Blakey’s store. Good money in those days when you’re 9 years old, (5 cents for each). Of course a drink and chips was 26 cents at the time.

He usually kept a calm demeanor. He did get upset once when were playing football and he got a black eye. When he showed his Mom she said they may have to take his eye out. We thought that was a little funny but he didn’t. He was quite serious about that one.

Timmy and I did go out quite a bit as we got older. I can attest to his love for dancing. I witnessed it many times. He was very good at it.

I meet people very often that know Timmy and we share stories. I feel like I have the inside tract since I’ve known him so long.

We had many adventures and great memories. Timmy was a good friend and great company.
Timmy, (Gibson),(Timbo),(The Gipper). You will be missed my friend!!!

Sincerely,
Vince

I had the privilege to get to meet Anne’s father multiple times. Every time I saw Timothy he was so cheerful and always wanted to know how I was doing. Anne-Marie is a light in this dark world. She has always reminded me of God’s goodness. Anne-Marie is the sweetest women I have ever known. I know these wonderful qualities were taught only from a caring and loving father. A woman like Anne-Marie only comes around every once in a while. I know her father helped her become the patient and persistent woman she is. She is so passionate about her health and the gospel. I know her father inspired the drive that Anne has for continuous improvement within herself, her mind, heart, and soul. Although I didn’t know Timothy too well, I see his spirit in his daughters. Sarah and Anne are both gorgeous, caring, sweet, and strong willed women, they both are willing to help anyone in need. Through them parts of Timothy lives on.
