Daniel Lytton Obituary

Our beloved Daniel Lytton was taken from us on November 05, 2026.

Daniel was born on April 27, 1954, in Purton, England to Peter Bernard and Bridget Wilson Lytton. When he was eighteen months old, the family moved to Guadalajara, Mexico, where Daniel acquired his love of the Mexican landscape, the people, the culture and the Spanish language.

When he was eight, he returned to England with his mother and siblings. He truly loved the family home on the North Sea, where he and his brother built boats and learned to sail.

Daniel believed his future lay in North America, and so, at the age of seventeen, he made his way back to Mexico where he worked not only on his father's ranch in Guadalajara, but as a logging truck operator and as an auto mechanic. He married Suzanne Gibson and moved to Whidbey Island, WA, where his two children were born. In 1980, he began his nearly 40-year career as a chief engineer on ocean-going vessels.

Daniel loved fixing the unfixable, keeping the boats running smoothly and safely far out in the Bering Sea. No challenge was too big to tackle, and he was known for staying calm in a crisis.

Though he enjoyed the comradery and technical work on the boats, Daniel began acquiring real estate so that he could retire from the sea. He approached it with his usual enthusiasm and managed to retire in 2019 to become a full-time property manager. He put his creative stamp on every remodel and renovation.

He is survived by his daughter, Sabrina (Randy Sears), his son, Kyle (Agata Arent), his grandchildren Vanessa, Achille, Ariel and Eric, his siblings Tony, Raphael and Rosa Lytton, and his partner of thirty years, Niki Albright.

A memorial service will be held at University Friends Meeting, 4001 9th Ave NE, Seattle 98105 on Sunday, February 22, at 2:00pm.
