Claude Hubert peacefully passed away on February 1, 2026, at his home in Fallbrook, California, surrounded by family. He was 94 years old.
Claude was born on January 17, 1932, in Saint-Aubin, Belgium. At just eight years old, he experienced the hardships of World War II, recalling how his family—his parents, sister, and two younger brothers—fled Belgium for France during the German invasion in May 1940. The family later returned to Saint-Aubin following Belgium’s liberation in 1944–1945.
Claude remained in Saint-Aubin until joining the Belgian Airborne Battalion, serving as a paratrooper and mechanic. Around 1955, he was deployed to the Belgian Congo, where he worked on building roads and bridges. After returning to Brussels, he worked as a diesel mechanic before being assigned to Buenos Aires, Argentina, from March 1961 to August 1962.
Later, Claude’s career brought him to the United States, where he worked for Waukesha Motor Company in Wisconsin and then in Huntington Beach, California, servicing oil and gas machinery. It was then that he met Maria del Socorro Garcia Nava. They married on April 29, 1967, in Los Angeles and settled in Costa Mesa, California, where they raised three children: Patricia, Claude, and Raymond. Tragically, Claude passed away at the age of 15 on January 22, 1986.
After retiring, Claude and Socorro built their dream home in the mountains outside of Fallbrook, California. On May 3, 1996, they proudly became U.S. citizens in San Diego.
Claude is survived by his loving wife, Maria del Socorro Garcia Nava Hubert; his son Raymond Hubert; his daughter Patricia Davis and son-in-law Harvey Davis; and his grandchildren: Richard Raymond Davis, Hunter Claude Davis, and Tessa Rose Davis.

To Maria, Patricia, Ray and family,
So very sorry to just now learn of Claude's passing. We lived two doors down from you in Costa Mesa and I remember Claude as a quiet man who worked hard and loved his family. Ray and my son Shane, who tragically passed away on March 18th, were close friends since the 6th grade. It comforts me to think that Claude and Shane will cross paths again in the afterlife.
Wishing you peace and healing,
Vanessa and Blade Ronetz
