Anthony Rojas Ramirez

(April 7, 1931 - August 19, 2013)

Anthony "Tony" Rojas Ramirez, 82 of Lawrence, Kansas, passed away on August 19, 2013 in Lawrence, Kansas. He was born on April 7, 1931 in Horton, Kansas the son of Bicente and Monica Rojas Ramirez. Tony was a Highway Maintence Supervisor for the Kansas Department of Transportation for over 40 years. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard. Tony was a member of the St. Leo's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and enjoyed spending time with his family and hosting family gatherings. On July 5, 1952 he married Frances M. Jeannotte in Horton, Kansas. She preceded him in death on December 28, 2006. Survivors include three sons, Michael Ramirez of Lawrence, Kansas, Marty (Frances) Ramirez of Lebo, Kansas and Mark (Jenny Johnson) Ramirez of Longmont, Colorado; five daughters, Lou Ann (Mike) Scott of Linwood, Kansas, Lisa Morgan (Kevin Krumm) of Lawrence, Kansas, Laurie Ramirez (Ron Brave) of Lawrence, Kansas, Toni (Steve) Wheeler of Lawrence, Kansas and Trina Ramirez (Sean Mawhirten of Lawrence, Kansas; brother, Greg of Horton, Kansas; two sisters, Patricia of Horton, Kansas and Mary of Independence, Kansas; eighteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three brothers, Antonio, Aristeo and John. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the St. Leo's Catholic Church in Horton, Kansas. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary with family visitation to follow. Burial will be at the St. Leo's Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be sent in care of the Tony Ramirez memorial fund to be designated later and may be sent in care of the mortuary. A special message may be sent to the family at
