Funeral services for Jeffrey L. Lucas, 48, Lawrence will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. He died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at St. Francis Healthcare Center in Topeka.
Jeffrey was born July 7, 1965 in Lawrence, KS the son of Gary Lee and Crystol Lorraine (Layton) Lucas.
Jeffrey had a go-getter attitude through his whole life. Growing up, he was active in sports. After high school he went into the United States Navy. He was a loving father, and a devoted family man. In his spare time, he volunteered as social worker at Brandon Woods in Lawrence. Jeffrey touched many lives and was beloved by all.
Survivors include his father, Gary L. Lucas and wife, Kathy, Cape Coral, FL; mother, Crystol L. Lucas, Lawrence; daughter, Amanda Lucas, Lawrence; brother, Scott Lucas and wife, Carley, Clearwater, KS; two grandchildren, Sophie Foster, Abby Foster, both of Lawrence; three nieces; and a large, extended family and friends.
The family will greet friends from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 28th at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorials in his name to Lawrence Humane Society or Wounded Warrior Project and may be sent in care of the mortuary.

We all grew up together on Lindenwood Lane. Jeff will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Although people drift apart, childhood friends always remain in our hearts. I am praying for the family through their grief they will find peace.
