John R. Buck

John R. Buck, age 81, of Kansas City, Kansas and previously of Bonner Springs, Kansas went home to be with the Lord on Friday March 28, 2014, while surrounded by his family at his home. John was born on July 21, 1932 in Slater, Missouri; the second of five children born to C.L. Lansden and Etta (Atterberry) Buck. John grew up in the Marshall, Missouri area and graduated from Marshall High School, he then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army. John worked in the Teamsters Union Local #41 for 31 years, driving for Yellow Freight. Later he had an Executive Airport Transportation Service he operated up until the time of his illness. In his retirement he enjoyed gardening, taking care of his animals and watching sports, whether it be the Kansas City Chiefs or his beloved KU Jayhawks Basketball Team. But most of all he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, two siblings; Charles Buck and Rose DeLuce and by one grandson Spencer Buck. Survivors include his six children; Debra States of Sedalia , MO., Sandy Loftis and husband Terry of Edwardsville, KS., Randy W. Buck and wife Megan of Linwood, KS., Candy Burnett of Bonner Springs, KS., Jess "Lanny" Buck of Bonner Springs, KS., Jonna Harris and husband Jamie of Bonner Springs, KS., and a close family friend that was like a son, Jerry Brown and wife Juli of Basehor, KS.; Two sisters Joyce Crouse of Holiday Island, AR., and Jean Buck of Marshall, MO., 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

John was a very dependable part of my life - I travelled 42 weeks in one year and John would always be there to pick me up, whether at 11 PM or 4 AM. I will miss his kind words and welcoming smile.
