Wilbur J. Meier
Private family services for Wilbur Junior Meier, 92, Lawrence will be held at a later date. He died Friday, December 13, 2013 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Wilbur was born June 25, 1921 in St. Joseph, MO the son of Alfred and Julia (Haeberle) Meier.
He was a resident of Lawrence since 1951.
Wilbur served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1942 until 1946 during World War II with a rank of Sergeant.
He was a life member of the VFW and American Legion. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge for 50 years.
He attended the University of Kansas.
He worked at Hercules Powder Plant until he retired in 1986.
He is married to Elaine Belt. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include; one daughter, Mary Kay LeGer; two sons, Thomas Henry Meier, Ralph Edward Meier; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Kathryn Meier in 1986.
Memorial Contributions may be made in his name to Douglas County Visiting Nurse Hospice and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
