A memorial service for Walter Lee Robinson (age 65), of Seattle WA will be Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Warren McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Inurnment will be at Pioneer Cemetery in Lawrence KS.
Mr. Robinson died Oct. 19, 2018 at age 65.
He was born April 9, 1953 in Lawrence KS, son of Walter Stitt Robinson and Constance Mock Robinson. He graduated from Lawrence High School where he was an honor student as well as a participant in track, tennis and marching band. A graduate of the University of Kansas in 1975 with a BA in history and geography, he completed a Master's degree in the School of Natural Resources from the University of Michigan in 1977. While at KU, he was a member of AKL fraternity and a four year member of the KU Marching Jayhawks Band.
His entire career was spent in work for the United States Government, two years with the US Corps of Engineers and 38 years with FEMA in Seattle WA.
Mr. Robinson enjoyed travel, both in this country and overseas as a student and with FEMA. He was an Eagle Scout, an enthusiastic outdoors man, a lover of music and of the art he saw in the great museums of the world.
He married Linda Anderson in 1984. They were divorced at a later date.
Survivors include a son, Trevor Lee Robinson of Rifle, CO; a sister, Barry Robinson Cook (Robert Cook), Leawood KS; and numerous cousins in the Carolinas and Virginia.
