Funeral services for Vernon Heine, 85, Lawrence will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. He passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Vernon was born September 11, 1932, the son of Otis and Mary Heine.

He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.

He worked for Lawrence Paper Company for 29 years and after retirement, he worked for the family lawn care business for 31 years.

Vernon enjoyed fishing, custom hay bailing, raising hogs and loved the casinos.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene Heine; sons, Clay (Memory), Barry (Leslie); four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Brand Willis, Heather N. Heine and Jay D. Heine; three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Carolyn; and son, Gayle Wayne; two brothers, Otis "Lud", Richard; and his parents, Otis and Mary Heine.

The family will greet family and friends at 1:00 p.m. one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the mortuary.

Memorial Contributions may be made in his name to Clinton Lake Museum and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
