Thomas James Noonan, 61, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Sunset Manor, after a long battle with Huntington's Disease.
Tom was born on June 17, 1956, at Wichita, Kansas, the son of James E. and Doris M. (Shearer) Noonan. He grew up in Wichita and graduated from Carroll High School. He then attended Christian Brothers College before transferring to Emporia State University, where he ran track and cross country while earning his Bachelor of Science in Education degree. Tom began his career as a teacher and coach at Axtell and Summerfield, then moved to Baldwin City where he taught and coached until retiring due to disability from Huntington's.
He married Marilyn K. Bartlett on July 30, 1977, at Waverly, and they were the parents of two children, Megan and Matthew.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; by three sisters, Teri Wasinger, Christina Harrison and Judy Reichenberger; and by two brothers, Tim and Robert Noonan.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of the home; daughter Megan Nelson and her husband Scott, and their children Drake and Cade, of Lawrence; a son, Matthew Noonan and his wife Elodie, and their children Emma and Sophie, of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters, Mary "Cate" Pyke and husband Tom, and Sara Schmanke and husband Dean, all of Baldwin City; two brothers, John Noonan and wife Mariana of Indio, California, and Pat Noonan and wife Theresa of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 7:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 13, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 14, at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to "Hereditary Neurological Disease Center" (for Huntington's Disease research).

Rest In Peace Tom. We spent many hours running track at Bishop Carroll and Emporia State. We had some great times hanging out together. I've thought you often over the years.
