Steven Douglas Cox age 63 of Gardner, Kansas died Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Medicalodges of Gardner.

Steven was born February 8, 1954 in Lawrence, Kansas. He was the second of three children born to Everett Wells & Helen Louise (Rodgers) Cox. Steven grew up and attended school Lawrence. He graduated from Lawrence High School with the class of 1973. Steven also attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. He worked for Lawrence Memorial Hospital in the dietary department for 20 years before retiring. After retiring Steven volunteered in food service at Babcock and for Meals on Wheels.

Steven moved to Gardner in 2009 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Gardner. He was a faithful Baptist and attended church every Sunday. He enjoyed listening to Christian music and would go to Christian concerts with his friend Malcolm. Steven enjoyed cooking and loved to watch The Food Network. He would collect recipes and took several cooking classes over the years. Steven enjoyed working as a school crossing guard. He also built model cars and collected baseball cards.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his brother Everett (P.J.) Cox of Garnett, KS and sister Tina (Robert) Guzik of Drums, PA, and life-long, best friend of 53 years, Malcolm Neelley of Overland Park, KS, along with many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
