Philip E. Brown, age 81, passed away on March 7, 2018 at his home in Baldwin City, Kansas.
He was born February 24, 1937, in Dodge City, KS, the son of Leonard C. and Eltha D. (Hallock) Brown. As a young boy he attended the Meade school system, graduating from Meade High School in 1955. After his graduation, he entered into college, graduating from Fort Hays State University with a Bachelor's of Education Degree as well as a Master's of Educational Administration Degree. Upon his graduation, he worked within the fields of education and business.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church. In his later years, he developed a passionate interest in the Grace Ministry of Joseph Prince. He was a life-time member of Webb Lodge 275 in Meade where he served as Master for several years. He was also 32nd degree life-time member of the Scottish Rite. He enjoyed playing the piano, working in the yard, gardening, playing golf, and spending time with family and his yellow lab, Lucy.
In 1961, he married Sybil J. Henry in Bushton, KS. She is the mother of their two children, Sonja Midyett of Olathe, KS and Doug Brown of Baldwin City, KS. All three survive.
On July 7, 2009, he married Linda Kaye Preuss in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Together, they lived in Meade, KS until February of 2016 when they moved to Baldwin City to be near family. She survives at the home.
Other survivors include his son-in-law, Lance Midyett of Olathe, KS; his daughter-in-law, Laura Brown of Baldwin City, KS and a step-son, Dr. Greg Preuss of Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He is also survived by grandchildren, Ashlyn (fiancé-Tim Lee), Rachel, and Mitchell Midyett and Anna, Molly, Cooper, Gemma, and Bridgett Brown.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Betty Innis and his brother-in-law, Gene Innis.
The family will greet friends from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, Baldwin City, KS. Celebration of Life services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church. Cremation has taken place. Private family inurnment will follow the service.

Phil was a wonderful man! He was friendly and kind and had a fantastic smile! He loved Linda Kay with all his heart! I just heard of his passing and am taken by surprise, he was in such good spirits when I saw him last. I know he was at peace!

It is never easy to lose a loved one, I pray you find comfort in Gods promise found at John 6:40 which says that soon we will see all our loved ones again. My deepest condolences to the family.
