I am a very lucky person. My biggest male influence was the man I called Grandpa who was Mr. Miller. Pharon was my mothers stepfather, but he was, and always will be grandpa to me. He thought me to ride a bicycle, he instilled a sense of respect in me, and he passed on a love of local northeastern, Kansas history, and love of professional wrestling to me. I was not around the last twenty years of his life and I have no excuse for that. But my memories of Pharon taking me to get my haircut in Ottawa at the old school barber shop, or watching NWA wrestling with me, and all the times we played checkers will continue to be the very best memories of my youth. Can anyone remember him wiggling his ears without moving the rest of his face? That made me giggle when I was real young. I love you Grandpa, thank you for the solid foundation.

I sure wish I could have seen you again Uncle Pharon. I still tell people you're responsible for my love of all things automotive, and my interest in electrical and electronics. You're an incredible man, I will always remember you. Godspeed.

I regret that I never met Pharon and only know of him through his relatives. Omaha Beach & a second purple heart - truly one of the best of a great generation. Rest in peace Pharon.

Pharon was an American hero. He landed on D-Day on Omaha beach and received his first purple heart. He returned to France only to be wounded again during the Battle of the bulge. His modesty was symbolic of a whole generation and I will miss him. Rest in peace Pharon you were an American treasure.
