Mass of Christian burial for Patricia "Pat" Schamle, 93, Lawrence will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Ottawa, KS. She passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the family home in Lawrence.
Pat was born June 4, 1923 in Lakin, KS the daughter of John C. and Josephine M. (Schwarz) O'Loughlin. She grew up in Garden City and Ft. Dodge, KS and graduated from Kansas State University in 1945.
She worked as a dietitian in Cincinnati, OH, Topeka, Wichita, Dodge City and at Corbin Hall at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. She also assisted her husband in his barbering business and was a piano teacher.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, St. John's Altar Society and was active in the Cursillo movement and along with her husband was a founding member of the Lawrence Interdenominational Nutritional Kitchen.
She married Charles E. Schamle on September 20, 1952 in Garden City, KS. He preceded her in death September 22, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her sister Josephine M Robison.
Survivors include her four sons, Stephen E. Schamle, Mission, KS, Richard C. Schamle, Castine, ME, David J. Schamle, Corte Madera, CA, Daniel P. Schamle, Lawrence and two grandchildren Josephine Schamle of Melbourne, FL and Charles Schamle of Castine,ME.
A Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church followed by a visitation until 8:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made in her name to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

Mrs. Schamle will always hold a special place in my heart. Growing up with her son Dan, I always felt welcome in her home. Prayers to sons Steve, Rick, David and Danny.
