I was saddened to read of Myrle's death in CU's School of Education bulletin. He was a fabulous teacher and an amazing man. I learned a lot about school law from Myrle, but even more about how to be a good person. He cared deeply about his students, listened to them intently, and provided life-affirming guidance. I feel so fortunate to have known Myrle! My deepest sympathy to his family.

Dear Grandpa
I walk the shores of the
South China Sea
Thinking of aerograms
Letters on crinkling blue paper
Your words, rooted in
the Nebraska plains
and the Colorado mountains
Light thin and frugal
Following me on my journeys.
Farewell, Grandpa
Safe travels.

Myrle was my advisor 1970-73 for my Ed.D.. HE WAS A GREAT ROLE MODEL! Always calm, cool & collected.. (To this day I ask myself what would Myrle do in this situation?) He made sure that all his advisees stayed on task and completed our degrees.
He & Leone played bridge with my wife (Susan) and me during our stay in Boulder (they were like family to us).
He was highly respected by his students & peers.

Myrle Hemenway taught my school law class at C U in the late 1970's. He was one of those iconic people in my life who I always looked to with admiration for his knowledge and genuine common sense in leadership.
He became a friend and role model to me and many of my colleagues in education...thanks to frequesnt encounters at the local KinSoopers Store. His grandson, Arna, attended a high school student tour to Kenya with a student group I had a connection to long after that school law class. So, I was able to stay connected to an important person that I will always greatly admire. Bill Katzer

Keith and Sandy Boggs, we lived across the street from them for 20 years and so missed them we moved to east Boulder county. We have so so many fond memories of them. Loved sitting around their kitchen table and visiting or looking at their garden in the summer. He was truly one of the most respected best man we've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Our condolences to all of the family. We felt as though we knew all of you from the stories they told us. We're truly sorry for your loss. Sandy Boggs on Toedtli street in Boulder,Co,

Hemenways:
I e-mailed Myrle's obituary to all School of Education retired faculty, the current Dean, Lorrie Shepard, CU Boulder's Chancellor, Phil DiStefano, in which I also included a photo of Myrle I took in 1972 at a Sch of Educ party at the Grieder's home. In this note I will attempt to attach the PDF of Myrle's obituary I sent out.
Myrle was a truly fine person and colleague. I was also on the School of Education faculty from 1970-2001.
Hope you are doing well.
