Herbert D. Brahman, M.D.
Herbert D. Brahman, M.D., 71, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born October 27, 1943, in Muskegon, Michigan, the son of Victor and Rosamond Tower Brahman. He graduated from high school in Muskegon and earned a bachelor's degree from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan.
Dr. Brahman earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Loma Linda University Medical School in Loma Linda, California, in 1970. Following medical school he filled a one year fellowship at Sloan Kettering Medical Center in New York City and completed residency in Pathology at Letterman Army Medical Center, San Francisco, rotating internship at Letterman General Presidio of San Francisco. He worked as a pathologist at St. Francis Medical Center, Topeka, Newman Memorial Hospital, Emporia, LMH, Lawrence, and Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Kansas City. He was a member of the College of American Pathologists.
Herb was a passionate artisan in woodworking, especially fine replicas of period pieces with intricate inlay. He was also devoted to his two beloved dogs, Mattie and Ginger.
He married Helga Bruegel on December 27, 1979. She survives at their home in Lawrence. Other survivors include a daughter, Angela Anderson, and her husband Steven, Burlington, Kansas; a grandson, Sean Anderson, Emporia, Kansas; and a brother, Rodman Brahman, St. Joseph, Michigan.
No public memorial service is planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence Humane Society, P.O. Box 651, Lawrence, Kansas 66044. Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
