Gregory James Shannon
Born in Kansas City, Missouri Nov 3, 1951 and died peacefully Nov 12, 2014 and was buried in Boise Idaho after a long illness.
Greg was preceded in death by his father Robert Emmett Shannon and brother James Joseph Shannon.
He is survived by his mother Patricia McManus Shannon, his wife Liz Markus and her two sons Brian and Brandon. His dear sisters, Susan Riederer (Paul), Nancy Allen (Vaughn) and Marianne Shannon. His dear brothers, Kevin (Erin) Shannon, Dan (Shelly) Shannon and Bob (Leigh) Shannon and sister-in-law, Lisa Cuff (Dan) and 15 nieces and nephews and 5 great nieces and nephews.
Greg was a graduate of Southwest High School and spent most of his early life in Kansas City until his career took him to Boise Idaho where he worked in the food service industry. His work required travel around the globe perfecting and training companies on producing the "perfect French fry".
His love of food, cars, travel, and sense of humor were evident to all whom he encountered. Greg never knew a stranger and was so generous in his heart and spirit. Heaven is a happier and more joyful place today.
Greg's family would like to thank the wonderful and compassionate staff at St. Luke's Medical Center for their care and kindness during his prolonged hospital stay.
A private memorial service will also be held in Kansas City. Memorial contributions may be made to Children's Center for the Visually Impaired in Kansas City (www.ccvi.org).
