Funeral services for Fred H. Terry, 60, Lawrence, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 13, at Southside Church of Christ, Lawrence. Burial will be at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Mangum, OK. He passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Fred was born November 19, 1956, in Mangum, OK, the son of George Harold and Jo (Moss) Terry.
He married Leesa Dawn Irey on July 28, 1979, in Weatherford, OK. She survives of the home.
Fred had English Literature degrees from SWOSU and OSU and completed his Ph.D. coursework at the University of Kansas before becoming sick and tired of Geoffrey Chaucer.
He worked at the Kansas Geological Survey and several software companies before joining Burns & McDonnell in 2004, where he served as a Cybersecurity and Systems Integration manager. He enjoyed traveling all over the country for work and leisure (he was up to 75 different airports and 45 of the 50 states), and in his spare time was an avid reader, gardener, and racquetball player. Fred was a member of Central Church of Christ in Topeka, KS.
He is also survived by his daughter, Sommer, Oklahoma City, OK; son, Keegan (Katie), San Antonio, TX; his parents, Mangum, OK; brother, Randel (Sharon), Lubbock, TX; nephew, Russell; and twins, niece, Allison and nephew, Austin; and dog Zuzu.
Memorials may be made in his name to Tallgrass Christian Camp (in KS), Quartz Mountain Christian Camp (in OK) or a charity of the donor's choice, and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

So many great memories of out time in Lawrence!! Playing cards til the wee hours of the morning, eating a whole batch of chocolate chip cookie dough out of the bowl. Leesa, you and Fred are so dear to us!! Our heart aches for your loss! Fred is the lucky one!! You and the kids and all of us who loved him are the ones that are hurting. Fred and I were close friends in college. I acted in a play he wrote! A wonderful companion whose massive intellect was a constant wonder to me. Always a funny and wise; just a good man. Rest well, my old friend.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Fred was a dear work friend, I sat next to him for 3 years and we had many interesting conversations about his travels and love of history. Fred and I played racquetball on the weekends several years ago and worked together at Burns & Mac. I liked him immensely. RIP, Fred.
