Funeral services for Cleda E. Dalton, 95, Lawrence will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Plymouth Congregational Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. She died December 2, 2016 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Cleda was born December 31, 1920 in Paola, Kansas the daughter of Samuel Holmes and Mary Ella (Grimmer) Haight.
She graduated from Lawrence High School, where she met her future husband.
She married Curtis W. Dalton on June 22, 1942 in Lawrence, Kansas. He preceded her in death on June 13, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother.
She was a homemaker and spent time taking care of her daughters as a young mother. She enjoyed taking shopping trips to Topeka and playing golf with them. She was member of Plymouth Congregational Church and the Plymouth Women group and a lifetime member of the KU Alumni.
She is survived by her daughters Diane Williams of Ft. Collins, CO and Susanne Lutz of Lawrence, KS; one niece, six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
The family will greet friends at a visitation from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Plymouth Congregational Church or to the American Cancer Society and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
