Carol Edgelow Howe, 93, died Sunday, April 30, at Pioneer Ridge Health Center in Lawrence, Kansas.

Carol was born July 14, 1923, in Springfield, Massachusetts, the oldest of four daughters of Arthur F.G. Edgelow and Cybel K.S. Edgelow. She attended the MacDuffie School in Springfield and Bishop Strachan School in Toronto, and graduated from Wellesley College in 1945.

She married the Reverend Halsey DeWolf Howe in 1946. During their 61-year marriage, they lived in Springfield, Massachusetts; Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts; Hamilton, Massachusetts; Gladwyne, Pennsylvania; Providence, Rhode Island; Springfield, Vermont; Rockland, Maine; and Boothbay Harbor, Maine.

Her husband Halsey preceded her in death in 2007. She is survived by her sister, Margaret Hale, of Peterborough, New Hampshire, by her children David (Barbara Smiley) of Bend, Oregon, Faith (Charles Lavaty) of Madison, Wisconsin, Mark (Sarah) of Burlington, Vermont, Deborah of Lincoln, Massachusetts, and Mary (Richard Stein), Thomas (Kate Dinneen), and Priscilla, all of Lawrence, Kansas, and by grandchildren William Stein (Naomi Welch), Timothy, Dylan, and Skyler Howe, Cecelia and Helen DeKorne, and by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on May 19, at St. Columba's Church, Boothbay Harbor, Maine.
