Bradley Kahler Obituary

At sunrise, March 15th, Brad's spirit slipped quietly away and rose with the sun into glory, where he met his savior and intimate companion, Jesus. Brad was a quiet, contemplative renovator of hearts and homes.

Born in Washington D.C. on January 9, 1943, he settled in Kansas with his family at the age of 13. Parents: Roland and Verneda (Appel) Kahler (both deceased). Siblings: Anita (Cobb)(deceased), Carolyn (Knoernschild), Donna (Stirn) and Eddie (deceased at 7).

Brad graduated with honors from Shawnee Mission East High School where he also enjoyed playing sports. Lawrence became his home while earning his Bachelors, Masters and PhD in Counseling Psychology.

While at KU, several new loves arose in his heart that would be cherished the rest of his life. The first, a deeper love for Christ fostered by his connection with Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship. The second, a passion for KU basketball. The third, Beth Everhart, who struck his heart and bound their souls together.

The two became one on December 23, 1966. They had four daughters and a son; Stacy (Hinman), Kama (Rich), Benjamin (deceased in infancy), Kendra (Oberzan) and Lindsey (Foster).

Ottawa, Ks became their home in '77 where Brad was a Psychologist at Ottawa Bible Church and Osawatomie State Hospital. He later started a private practice, Family Tree Counseling Services and founded Ottawa Home Fellowship.

Brad and Beth currently have 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren who have become the crowning affection of thier hearts. Brad leaves a legacy of faith, love and curiosity.

Rumsey-Yost is handling funeral services at Grace Evangelical Presbyterian Church on Saturday, March 24, at 2:30pm. Visitation precedes from 1:00-2:00 at GEPC. Memorials: Franklin County Cancer Foundation or Visiting Nurses Hospice.
