Sandra Kay Moore
Sandra Kay Moore, 73, beloved mother, sister and aunt passed from this life on Friday, August 1, 2014 following a complicated illness with ovarian cancer. A longtime resident of Lawrence, Sandy was born Oct. 8, 1940. Sandy attended Oklahoma State University and received her bachelor's degree from Northeastern State University in 1960; also, a masters degree from Harvard University in 1973.
She married Edwin S. Moore Jr, they later divorced. They have two sons, James Edwin Moore and Gregory Lance Moore, both of Lawrence.
Sandy was an English professor at Haskell University until her retirement in 2014. She was an active golfer and could be found on the Alvamar Country Club fairways in her spare time. Sandy was a season ticket holder to both KU football and women's basketball. Sandy cherished her sons, family and friends and was always happiest when she was in their company. She enjoyed the writings of Maya Angelou.
The family requests memorials to the Sandra K. Moore Scholarship, in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana Street.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial Mass will be held at 11 am Saturday August 9, 2014 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. A Rosary will precede the Mass at 10 am.

Greg, I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. You and your brother remain near my heart in thought and prayer. The loss of a mother is never timely, I hope the love and support of friends helps you through this time of grief.
