At age 84, Mary Ann Holdredge finally left home without her make up on. She passed away peacefully at her home in Lawrence surrounded by her loved ones. She was born July 23, 1933 to Thomas and Esther Shea in Hutchinson, KS. She married Rod Holdredge in 1954, and was preceded in death by him in 1994. For their five children and many others, Mary was the model of strength through difficulty, the best cook around, and most definitely the life of the party. The family will have a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 16th and those who wish to attend may contact the family for details. It would take a full page to say enough to honor what an amazing woman Mary was, but since we don't have a coupon for this obituary, she would want us to keep it short.

What a wonderfully vivacious, yet simple woman. You knew when Mary walked into the room. What a beautiful heart, mind, and soul. Never missed or forgotten, because she will never really be gone. A true legend's story lives on well past the generations, and her epic journey will teach her great great grandchildren many things through you all. I love you and hope the grass is the greenest it has ever been.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Mary. My thoughts and prayers are with the family now and in the days to follow. She was quite a lady and friend. Working for Kahn & Associates we would always book her the last client on a Friday and we always looked forward to her appointment. She always wanted a glass of wine waiting for her and we would always join her & toast our glasses. Always will be a fond memory. She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched in a very special way. Loved the obituary.

I did not know this wonderful woman, but I must say this is the best obit I have read in ages. Mary sounds like she kept her sense of humor and positive effect on others all through her life. What a legacy!
