Jeroldene Ann Waldo-Martin, age 88, of Baldwin City, Kansas passed away August 7, 2018 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was born February 28, 1930 in rural Baldwin City, KS, the daughter of Jerold Hobson and Fern (Sutton) Hobson.
She graduated from Baldwin City High School with the class of 1947 and continued her education at Emporia State University. She taught for a few years in Ottawa. She worked as a secretary and treasurer for the De Soto school district for almost 30 years. She would later work as a teller for Baldwin State Bank and as a postal courier.
Jeroldene was a member of Ives Chapel United Methodist Church and active in United Methodist Women's group, UMW. She was also a Girl Scout Leader.
She was united in marriage to Don Waldo in 1948. They lived in Ottawa, KS until 1966 when they moved to De Soto, KS until 1988 at which time they relocated to the Baldwin City area. They shared close to 44 years of marriage until Don's passing in February of 1992.
Jeroldene would remarry on January 16, 1999 to Joe Martin. They would share over 8 years of marriage until Joe's passing on February 11, 2007.
She is also preceded in death by a two brothers, Kenneth Hobson and James Hobson.
She is survived by two sons, Robert M. Waldo and his wife, Eva, Baldwin City, KS, and Kevin W. Waldo and his wife, Fran, Baldwin City; two daughters, Janet Nalley and her husband, Sean, De Soto, KS, and Jeannie Waldo, Baldwin City; six grandchildren, Roger, Donny, Jasmine, Billy, Jake, and Keri; twelve great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Family will greet friends on Monday, August 13, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, 712 9th Street, Baldwin City, KS. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Baldwin City. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, KS.
