Carolyn Mae Freeman
Memorial services for Carolyn Mae Freeman, 67, of Lawrence will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church 1245 New Hampshire Street. Inurnment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends at 10 a.m. one hour prior to the service at the Church. Carolyn died October 31, 2012 at her home.
She was born on March 13, 1945 in Kansas City, Kansas the daughter of Russell G. and Ada Mae Elizabeth (Deal) Hills.
Carolyn received an Associate's degree from Kansas City Kansas Community College. She worked as a secretary for court services at the Leavenworth County Courthouse and later at the Douglas County Courthouse. She was an Office Assistant in the Human Resources Department at the University of Kansas for 17 years. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
She married James Dennis Freeman on March 10, 1979 at Maywood Community Church in Kansas City, Kansas. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include daughter, Marsha A. Katasonova, Minneapolis, Minnesota; son, Derek R. Jones and wife, Denise, Grand Rapids, Michigan; brother, David R. Hills and wife, Eadie, Lake Quivira, Kansas; grandchildren, Nicholas Katasonov, Alena and Svetlana Jones, Bobby Tryon and Kira Tryon. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Carolyn will always be remembered for her sweet disposition, generosity, and willingness to help others. She enjoyed traveling to visit her children and grandchildren. Her hobbies included flower gardening and collecting rocks and minerals with her husband.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Trinity Lutheran Church or Douglas County Visiting Nurses and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

Marsha, I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember you and your mother as part of our church group at First Baptist in Basehor. Carolyn was in our young married womens circle and was such a good christian. Prayers going up for you and your family.
