Eldridge H. Matthews
Graveside services for Eldridge H. Matthews, 84, Lawrence will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Memorial Park Cemetery. He died Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Eldridge was born on August 31, 1928 in Robertson County, TN, the son of John Henry and Lula Lorene (Truelove) Matthews.
He was a journeymen electrotyper.
He was a union treasurer, a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and an associate member of VFW.
He married Mary Inez Hayes on March 1, 1947 in Georgia. She preceded him in death in 1963. He later married Diana Day in 1967 and they later divorced.
Survivors include three sons, Jerry Matthews, Oregonia, OH, Michael Allen Matthews, Dayton, OH, Greg Matthews, Boulder, CO; two grandsons, Jeff Matthews, Champaign, IL; Wesley Matthews, Spring Valley, OH; two great grandchildren, Lauren Matthews, Gwyndolyn Matthews; and one brother-in-law, Don Barnett, Lawrence. He was also preceded in death by one sister, D. Nadine Barnett; and brother, Cecil Larry Matthews.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

we love and miss all of you guys.
I will forever treasure the times we spent at Piney campgorund here in TN every fall with Matt, Nadine ,Don,Debbie and Jerry.
all the stories that were told around the campfires each night, we looked forward to it every year.
Uncle Matt made forever memories that will never be forgotten.
I can only imagine the catching up and story telling that is going on in Heaven these days between Mom,Dad,brothers and sister.

I was Mr Matthews mail carrier for 14yra until my recent retirement.He always had a friendly wave whether he was walking,mowing or sitting on the porch. So sorry for your loss.
