Thomas Jay "T.J." Danley
T.J. Danley age 80, of Baldwin City, died October 19, 2013, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence, Kansas. He was born January 12, 1933, in Oklahoma the son of Albert Danley and Irene (Hoover) Danley.
He grew up in Baldwin City, Kansas and was a graduate of Baldwin High School. After graduation T.J. entered the United States Navy serving his country from 1952 until 1954. Upon discharge from the Navy, T.J. enlisted in the United States Air Force serving his country from 1954 until March of 1974, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. During his twenty year career in the Air Force T.J. served his country as a flight engineer of C-133 and CA5 cargo planes.
In 1974 he became an Insurance Agent in the Lawrence and Baldwin City area for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, serving in this capacity for many years.
T.J. was a member of the American Legion Post 228, Masonic Lodge Palmyra # 23 A.F. &A. M., both of Baldwin City, York Rite of Lawrence, The White Shrine of Olathe, and the 40 & 8 club.
On November 29, 1968, T.J. was united in marriage with Ethel Jane Reavis at Dover Air Force Base, Dover, Delaware. They shared forty-four years of loving marriage together. Ethel survives of their home.
He is also survived by a granddaughter Melissa Danley; and six siblings, Barbara Caruthers, Marie Merrifield, Albert Danley, Pauline Knight, John Robert Danley, Vern Danley, and three great grandchildren, Kimberly, Autumn, and Zachary.
T.J is preceded in death by his parents and a son Michael Eugene Danley.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 24, 2013, at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Baldwin City. Burial will follow Oakwood Cemetery, Baldwin City.
Mr. Danley's family will receive friends at 9 a.m. Thursday prior to the service.
