My sympathy to the family and friends of Mr. Malinowsky. I was pleased to note the information about his life. I had not realized what a significant library career he had, including his years at the University of Kansas, since I had known him only while he was at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I did know he was a nice and gentle man, and I will attend the celebration of his life here in Chicago if my work and travel schedule permits.

I was sad to hear about Bob's passing. We worked together in UIC Collections Development during 1988-1993 and even shared an office at one point. He helped and encouraged me to become a published author. He was an inspiration and a convivial office mate. My sympathies to Charlie, his cousin Maureen, and all his family and friends.

I was heartbroken to learn that Bob has died. (I also have to admit that I almost missed that this obituary was Bob's because no one *I* knew ever referred to him as "Harold", so please don't think that any lack of posts here means that he isn't remembered with great respect and affection.)

Bob was the Associate Dean when I first worked at the KU Libraries. His support and advice...and his friendship... made a huge and, more importantly, wonderful difference in my life. I owe him more than I can ever repay. I will never forget him. And will never think of him with anything but great fondness.
