I was stunned and saddened to learn of Corieta's passing. She was an amazing woman. As a widowed mother she did a wonderful job of keeping her family together and raising four great children. She never had any self-pity nor did she have a “that ship has sailed” mentality towards life. She was always improving and challenging herself, including getting her Bachelor's and Master's degrees as adult student and moving to rural Appalachia, hundreds of miles from her nearest relative, to serve one of America's most poverty stricken populations.
When I was in graduate school, one of my professors believed one of the causes of business scandals was that decision makers did not have heroes. She assigned the students in her class to select a hero and tell the class about that person. The hero I selected was Corieta Davis.
He was a great person with a great laugh. She was someone who inspired those who knew her to do their best. I, like so many others, am grateful to have known her. My thoughts are with Kenny, Randy, Becky, and Scott.

I also worked with Corieta at Menorah Medical Center. She LOVED her patients and they loved her. Corieta moved throughout the hospital at a fast pace -smiling and greeting everyone she encountered. I loved her stories of her life. She was an avid reader and I learned so much from her. She was such an optimist- although she had struggles in life including losing her husband at a young age, she was never bitter. A wonderful example of a loving human being. Corieta will be missed so very much. May she rest in eternal peace. My love and prayers to her family- she loved you all so much.
